This past weekend, my son Ben and I went to the first Webelo’s Woods weekend at Camp Raven Knob. This was the first time that our district has offered this event and I think that it was very well organized. It took place with the Boy Scouts and their Merit Badge Weekend so it was also the first time that my son got to hang out with our Troop. We had purchased a new 2 man backpacking tent that worked great and had just enough room for Ben and I. It is a North Face Rock 22 and is perfect. At 5 pounds I believe that it will see a lot of use as we move into Boy Scouts. Ben got to make rope that they then used to make Monkey Bridge. They made the rope out of twine which I was very impressed with. The best part of the weekend was that while Ben was doing his activities, I had about 5 hours of free time which I used to do some exploring with my new mountain bike. I got an almost new Giant Sedona LX last week and this was my first chance to try it out. I logged about 12 miles going up and down the mountains of Ravens Knob. I had a nice rest and snack on the top of Warrior Mountain and thoroughly broke the disk brakes in on the way down. I did a lot of pushing as the climbs were very steep but the riding was all on fire service roads. I rode for about 3 hours and got back just in time to meet up at the dining hall. All in all it was a great weekend. We had a little rain Saturday night, just enough that we had to hang the tent out to dry on Sunday when we got home.
Today I did it. I setup my very own blog on WordPress. So far so good. Just learning how to edit and post should be fun.
